Nickel Refinery Ball Mill
Metalock of Australia P/L completes Nickel Refinery Ball Mill Trunnion repair.
Internal wear of Trunnion brought production to a grinding halt. 4 areas were badly worn with one section having gone completely through to the bearing journal. Parent material was work hardened cast iron – requiring use of carbide drills in certain pockets. A 50mm thick steel plate some 450mm long by 300mm wide was fitted and metalocked into position on the journal area with 18 sets of No. 5 metalocks – 3 deep. Use of steel and copper pads and metalace of periphery completed repairs on top section. 3 other steel sections were fitted to internal area to original profile. Works completed in 13 days. Replacement Trunnion had an ETA of 6 months.
